WHAT A WEEK!!! Whew! We leave tomorrow am early 6am-ish to fly to visit my sister and brother-in-law. My brother-in-law is being ordained this weekend, and we are going up for the ceremony. (just Kelsea and I are going, the boys are staying back to hold down the house) I did not pack until this afternoon, and even now its still not finished. If you know me well, you know this is causing stress for me as I normally have everything done a good 24 hours before we leave.
In other news…It looks like we have sold our old kitchen appliances-Jason will be saying adios to them Saturday morning, so hopefully the garage will be functioning as a useful space when we fly home Monday!
Well, the one thing that has been looming over Kelsea since she turned 4, was her 4-year old doctors appt., which she had this morning. She actually cried in the car 2 weeks ago when I told her it was coming up. (The last time she went to the dr. she had a lung infection, and they had to give her a shot to jump start her medicine, and she FREAKED out!) Well, our pediatrician (who we love), came out to the waiting room to say hi and I asked him if she had to get any shots today, and he said ‘yes’. UGH! Anyway-the long and short of it is…he told her in the room that she had to get 1 shot and 1 finger prick, and that he knew she could be brave. We practicied taking a deep breath and blowing out on the count of 3, and she did it with me when she got her shot. She didn’t cry, didn’t flinch, and actually said it didn’t hurt. I was SO PROUD. T
Then came the finger prick. The pricking part wasn’t bad-we did the blowing out air thing again-it was when the nurse starting catching the blood in the vile that Kelsea went downhill. She gagged a couple of times, and I realized her forehead and lip where soaked with sweat, and her face was completely pale. Yep-almost passed out. I layed her down, another nurse came in, said, ‘oh-even her legs are sweaty’, she lifted her legs up in the air cause I guess it helps get your blood to your extremities faster, and we had to wait, and wait. She ended up alright, and would be proud if you told her she was so grown up not crying during her shot. What a day…
It’s bedtime for the kids, and packing needs to be finished. We’ll try to update with pictures this weekend. Pray for my boys while we’re away…
