When it rains

It floods at my house.  I mean that figuratively and literally.  Did some research, found some new stainless steel appliances for a very good deal, worked out the details, and made arrangements to pick up the appliances Saturday afternoon.  Arranged the rental truck, found a willing volunteer (thanks so much Mike!!!), and managed to uneventfully get the appliances all to my house.

I really didn’t realize what a project switching out some appliances would turn out to be. OH MY!!!  Jason had to end up re-wiring the back of the oven to get it to fit. and when we finally went to bed 2 of the 4 appliances we’re in.   We are so blessed with great friends, and thanks to Kevin, it was looking like our dishwasher would successfully be installed without an electrician. (also required be wired to our house-which is much more complicated than just plugging it in, and sliding it back like I anticipated).  Well…the kids are playing, the guys are making progress and all of the sudden I hear loud commotion in the kitchen, and Kevin is saying- turn off the water, and J said ‘its off’, Heather go outside, Run, Run, turn the main water to the house off-Run, we’re being flooded, the house is being flooded.’

YEP-we had a small flood.  The water had not been turned off, so when the dishwasher line was cut, water went every.  Kevin was sprayed in the face, my kitchen floor had an inch or two, it went out into the hallway, and started rolling down to the front door.  We threw down probably 8 bath/beach towels, and grabbed the wet dry vac.  Water was just everywhere!

We have recovered now, Kevin made a 2nd trip back this evening and helped with the microwave, and our kitchen is finally in running order.  Weekends like this make me extremely grateful to have such a handy husband, and such good friends.

  1. Oh no! And I though we had problems getting our appliances installed. Yikes! Post pictures, I want to see what they look like.

  2. Oh, wow. So sorry to hear that. Yes, good friends are a blessing. I’d like to echo Kristen’s request for pictures. Please don’t tell me in all the excitement no one thought to grab a camera? Come on, you’re a blogger now! You must always be ready for the photo op!
